About the Census

Why are we doing the Head Lice Census?

There is no real up-to-date data on head lice in Australia. The aim of conducting the Census is to gain an insight and better understanding of how big the head lice problem may be in Australia.

Census responses will provide a national picture of the head lice problem of Australian families.

What do you hope to achieve in the Census results?

We hope to gain a better insight into the head lice problem in Australia by identifying how many people in Australia have head lice.

The results will hopefully provide statistics which indicate how many adults and children are affected by head lice, as well as the states and suburbs in Australia which have the biggest lice problems.

In addition, the results will provide us with a retrospective look at how many people have had head lice at least once in their lives.

What will the results of the Census be used for?

Data collected from the census will provide a national picture of the head lice problem in Australian families. This is vital to identifying how big an issue this may be and how best to treat head lice to lessen the problem in Australia
